North America
In 1607 The Hudsons Bay compony was founded which gave them rights to all territories leading into the Hudson Bay. The compony pursued fur trade with the native people, causing conflicts with French rivals which led to the seven wars which lasted from 1756 to 1763. From there on out the British victory over France gave them rights from present day Canada all the way down to the Carolinas. Then in the 1600s British settlers colonized multiple Caribbean islands including Jamaica, Barbados, and the Leeward Islands.
The Thirteen Colonies
England made their first attempt to colonize overseas in the 16th century, although they were unsuccessful until the colonization of the thirteen colonies in the 17th century. The Thirteen Colonies consisted of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
American RevolutionThe American revolution started in 1775 and ended in 1785. The war began due to the growing tension between the the Thirteen Colonies and the British Empire. The armed fighting started in Lexington and Concord with fights between the Minutemen and the British Red Coats. By 1778 France had joined the side of the colonists turning a civil war to an international conflict. With the help of France the Minutemen forced the Red Coats to surrender at Yorktown in 1781. Although the fighting continued until 1783 the Americans eventually won their independence.
